Last updated: 2026-05-16

1. Acceptance

By installing or using PlainSaid (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not install the app.

2. The Service

PlainSaid is a Shopify app that lets merchants publish a curated knowledge base and serve AI-generated, context-aware answers to shoppers on their storefront. The Service includes an embedded admin, a storefront drawer, automated content suggestions, and analytics on shopper questions.

3. Eligibility

You must be an authorized representative of a Shopify merchant in good standing to install or use PlainSaid.

4. Pricing & billing

All billing is handled through the Shopify Billing API. Paid plans renew monthly until cancelled. Cancellation takes effect immediately; there is no proration of unused time. PlainSaid may offer a free trial from time to time at its sole discretion. Prices and plan features may change with 30 days' notice.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for illegal, infringing, or harmful content.
  • Spam shoppers or use the Service to send unsolicited messages.
  • Reverse-engineer, probe, or attempt to extract the underlying model, prompts, or proprietary logic.
  • Run high-volume scraping, denial-of-service, or other abusive traffic against the Service.

6. Merchant content

You retain full ownership of the knowledge base content, brand voice settings, and product data you provide to PlainSaid. You grant PlainSaid a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and transmit that content solely to operate and improve the Service for you.

7. AI-generated answers

Answers are generated by an AI model grounded in the knowledge base, brand voice, and product data you supply. PlainSaid takes reasonable steps to reduce inaccuracies — including restricted phrases, approved framings, and confidence filtering — but does not warrant that any answer is complete, accurate, or fit for a particular purpose. You are responsible for reviewing your knowledge base, configuring brand voice and restricted phrases, and monitoring answers in the analytics view.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PlainSaid's total cumulative liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the fees you paid PlainSaid in the three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. PlainSaid is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, lost profits, or lost revenue.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold PlainSaid harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of the content you provide to the Service or your use of the Service in violation of these Terms.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time by uninstalling the app or by ceasing to provide the Service. Upon termination, PlainSaid will delete your shop's knowledge base and question logs within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. The exclusive venue for any dispute is the state and federal courts located in Utah.
